"How long will it take?" is the question behind every deep-clean booking. The honest answer: longer than most people guess, and anyone who quotes you two hours for a whole house is planning to skim. Here's what realistic timing looks like.
Realistic Timelines by Home Size
These assume a professional two-person crew doing a genuine deep clean (not a glorified tidy):
- Studio / 1-bed apartment: 2.5–4 hours
- 2-bed apartment or condo: 3.5–5 hours
- 3-bed house: 5–7 hours
- 4+ bed house: 7–10 hours (often split across two visits)
A single cleaner takes roughly 1.5x these times. Anyone promising dramatically less is either bringing a big crew or cutting the checklist.
What Makes It Take Longer
Condition matters more than size. A well-kept 3-bed can be faster than a neglected 2-bed. The biggest time multipliers: years of buildup on grout and baseboards, inside ovens and fridges that haven't been touched in ages, pet hair woven into everything, and clutter that has to be worked around. New-build construction dust is its own special time sink.
What a Deep Clean Hour Actually Contains
People picture wiping counters. A real deep-clean hour includes: hand-wiping baseboards, scrubbing grout lines, detailing window tracks and sills, cleaning inside appliances, dusting high and low (ceiling fans, vents, behind furniture), and scrubbing bathrooms to a level routine cleans never reach. It's methodical, physical work — that's why it takes the time it takes.
The Speed Red Flag
If a company quotes your 4-bedroom house at "2–3 hours," do the math: that's 30–45 minutes per bedroom including bathrooms, kitchen, and living areas. Physically impossible at deep-clean standard. Fast quotes mean skipped steps — usually the invisible ones (behind toilets, inside ovens, window tracks) that you'd never know were missed until the grime tells you.
How to Make It Faster (Legitimately)
Declutter before we arrive — every minute we spend moving your stuff is a minute not spent cleaning it. Empty the dishwasher. Strip beds if linens are included. And be clear about priorities: if the bathrooms matter most, say so, and we'll aim the hours where they count. Get a free quote with an honest time estimate for your home.
